Batch 15

27 March 2026 --- Debby (some Ralph)

Please click to return to the main Batch Page.

Batch 15 will be our second batch of Yarn, rather than Fiber.  We'll  use this Batch Watch Caps and Neck Gaiters and we'll hopefully have these available by end of 2026.  We cut the PO for this yarn in January of 2026 ... last time we ordered yarn, it took two years ... hopefully we go a lot faster this time.

Batch 15 will be 19-micron non-superwashed yarn sourced from Meridian Specialty Yarn Group.  Meridian will acquire the raw fiber, dye it, spin it and twist it according to our specs.  Thanks to Mike Bonney and Meridian for making the yarn we need!

Our knits don't actually bear Batch Tags, so this usage isn't consistent with the Batch designations of our woven products.  But the knits are just not amenable to tags.

We expect this Batch may also be used for cords (such as to adjust the Hood of an Anorak) and cuffs (at the end of the sleeves of Hooded Jackets).

An interesting detail about the yarn for our knits is that it has a "Z" twist (counter-clockwise) as opposed to the "S"  (clock-wise) twist of our woven yarn.  {Z twisted yarn tends to have more strength and structure, resulting in well-defined stitches - per Nicole Riley.)  But the woven yarns are plied-Z (two strands twisted together), whereas the knitting yarns are not plied.
