Definitely time for a "Whipcord Page" ... this is a first cut ... a quick detour from a bunch of other stuff I need to do ...

Our Whipcord is 100% WeatherWool Certified Fine Wool, made from 100% Worsted-spun yarn, and weighs about 9 ounces per square yard (305 grams per square meter).  

WHIPCORD is a well-known type of weave.   Definition/features:

• Whipcord is a type of Twill
• Pronounced ribs run diagonally at a steep angle across the bolt of Fabric
• Tightly woven
• Exceptionally strong
• Exceptionally tough

And while we are at it, what is TWILL? 

• A weave with a diagonal pattern of "ribs"
• The diagonals are created by passing the warp (yarn that runs lengthwise/vertically through a bolt of fabric) OVER, usually, two or three weft (horizontal) yarns ... and then UNDER two or three weft yarns
  

Whipcord, Denim, Gabardine and Tweed are all Twill weaves.

In the case of WeatherWool, a huge difference between our Denim and our Whipcord is that our Whipcord is 100% Worsted-Spun Yarn, whereas our Denim is 100% Woolen-Spun Yarn.

Here is a quick-and-dirty cellphone photo from Ralph that shows the diagonal ribs of our Black Whipcord and Drab Green Whipcord.  In "real life", both colors look darker to my eye.  We'll get a better palette here soon.
