South Carolina

February 26 2016

Many places in the USA have large numbers of (almost universally unwanted!) wild hogs ... feral swine. They are blamed for creating a wide range of problems including agricultural damage and environmental destruction.

But many people love to hunt them are there are certainly a huge number of ways to prepare wild pork. I've only hunted wild pork once ... in Florida, where the hogs were very unwelcome. We killed and butchered an 80-pounder and I thought the meat was fabulous. Tasted the same as domestic pork but it was pure lean.

The young man in the picture below hunted with a friend in 2013 and this picture really captures South Carolina's low country hog hunting.
