Grandfather and World War One

Debby's Paternal Grandfather was very much a "mover and a shaker" in the early 1900s. He was an immigrant from Eastern Europe and a serial entrepreneur. The following family story was told to us by Debby's Uncle Marvin, a US Navy Veteran who was born in about 1930.

World War One broke out when Granpa Louis was in his mid-30s, and he enlisted in the United States Army.

One day, the Base Commander summoned him.

"Are you Louis Wittlin from Brooklyn?"

"Yes, sir."

"Do you own the factory that makes Army Fatigues?"

"Yes, sir."

"We need you in Brooklyn, running your factory. You're discharged."

Making clothing for the US Military is in Debby's blood, and we hope Granpa Louis likes what we are doing with WeatherWool and WarriorWool.
