JR Morrissey

PROFESSIONAL -- GARMENT DESIGN and PRODUCTION

New York City - Manhattan's Garment District

646-510-4973, jr@thefactory8.com

Specialties: All aspects of Clothing Design and Production

JR has a lot of knowledge of our garment design and construction. He helped us make a great deal of progress when we first went into production, and we have worked with him steadily since in 2014 (or maybe 2013!). And he is the one who first called me "The Other Ralph". We are working with JR now on the creation of the North Maine Double Coat.

JR was with us when we created most of the garments we offer now, plus some of the extras. Now JR not only helps with our design, but oversees the work of turning our Fabric into garments.

We worked with several tailors before we found JR. Working with him made a huge difference for us. JR's company, The Factory8, has a great website. JR has some major corporate clients ... household names. He enjoyed working with us because we were such a change of pace, and because helping new companies get rolling is one of his specialties.

WeatherWool has long relied heavily on the garment design and production expertise of JR Morrissey, proprietor of TheFactory8, located in the heart of the Garment District of New York City. Here, JR wears a WeatherWool ShirtJacThe street-scene photo of JR in our CPO Shirt (which at the time was called ShirtJac) was taken in the New York City Garment District, when we approved the ShirtJac for production. This photo, taken in April of 2017, was our first Instagram post to reach 100 LIKES.

The picture with JR laughing was taken in JR's studio, where he frequently served as an ad hoc fit model for us. Debby (in mirror) and JR are laughing because THIS TIME we knew the Mouton Jacket was RIGHT. JR has since decided he's not satisfied with the shoulders, and we're working on them now!

The photo of JR in front of the water tank was taken on the roof of the building that houses his studio. Many of the old buildings in NYC have this type of wooden water tank on the roof.

WeatherWool was delighted to contribute our wool scraps and early development fabrics to Deadstock Love, JR's collaborative effort to help the homeless in NYC.  JR's team made large Mittens from our wool, and distributed them to those in need. Upcycling at its best.

JR has rented a large new space in the same building as his studio. We hope to hold WeatherWool events there!

As someone who runs, JR is working on the prototype of our Runner (shirt for running) and is a member of the Runner Design Team.
