Description

PLEASE NOTE: We are making Blankets now in MidWeight Lynx Fabric and in FullWeight Brown and Lynx Pattern Fabrics. And we'll soon make Blankets in our other FullWeight Fabrics, Black and Drab.

For Blankets with Fabrics we do not have in stock, we continue to accept backorders, and we'll follow up once the Fabric is completed.

For Blankets using Lynx Pattern and Brown Fabrics, the website is accepting paid orders.

The Lynx Fabric Blankets in larger sizes (Twin, Double, Queen, King) will have borders in Brown.  Drab blankets will have Black borders.  The Brown Blankets in these sizes will have Brown borders. If you would like different border colors, please give us a call.

The mattress size for Twin Bed is 38 inches by 75 inches.

The mattress size for Full/Double Bed is 54 inches by 75 inches.

The mattress size for Queen Bed is 60 inches by 80 inches.

The mattress size for King Bed is 76 inches by 80 inches.

It's a BIG help to us to know in advance what people want, so please don't hesitate to order a Blanket. Here is more information about ordering out-of-stock garments, about our production status, and about online ordering in general. --- Thanks -- Ralph

The Blanket story, for us ... We did not plan to make Blankets but people wearing WeatherWool asked for them, and they were very well received.

Andy McMurry, one of our Advisors and Ranchers, mentioned to us some research that wool's thermoregulatory properties help infants and adults sleep better. We did find a link to material published by Woolmark, a division of Australian Wool Innovation. Studies also indicate that wool helps babies sleep better, offering protection from cold, heat and moisture. There is also some very interesting info available from the people at Wool Sleeping Bag ... and THANKS to them!! The link will bring you to a page on their website entitled Wool Sleeping Bag Advantage. We'd be very interested to know about any other studies regarding wool bedding or sleepwear.

Blankets can be made from any of our Fabrics.  These blankets are not scratchy and almost everyone will find them comfortable against bare skin.

We are happy that Blankets are now becoming a regular production offering.

  • Crib (Swaddle) Blanket: 36 inches (117 cm) wide by 50 inches (152 cm) long. $195. Pictured at left in a Crib Blanket is my newborn (July 2022) grandson, Carter.
  • Adult Stadium Blanket: 50 inches (127 cm) by 70 inches (178 cm). $295
  • Twin Bed Blanket: 66 inches (168 cm) by 90 inches (229 cm). $700
  • Double Bed Blanket: 80 inches (203 cm) by 90 inches (229 cm). $900
  • Queen Bed Blanket: 90 inches (229 cm) by to 100 inches (254 cm). These are the blankets in the photos. $1000
  • King Bed Blanket: 108 inches (274 cm) to 100 inches (254 cm). $1200
  • Custom Blanket: Please give us a call to design a Blanket together

Our bolts of Fabric are about 53 inches (135 cm) wide, excluding selvedge ... and so blankets wider than that need to incorporate some kind of design that enables panels of fabric to be joined together, as shown in the photos of the Queen Blankets. So another choice that will need to be made is whether the main panels will be a different fabric/color than the borders, as shown here. Brown is a natural choice for Lynx Pattern Blankets.

The Queen Blankets in FullWeight Fabric in the photos weighed about 10 pounds (4.5 kg).

Blankets that are narrow enough to be made from a single panel of our Fabric (Swaddle, Crib and Stadium Blankets) will incur lower tailoring costs.

Lastly ... these pictures are very rough. We never intended these pictures to be on the website ... professional photos coming.

One other note: Batch 7 Fabric that we expected to be the Duff Color shown in the photo at left turned out to be a very nice, rich Brown. We like the color a lot, but it's not Duff. This is the Brown Color we will be using for the Blankets at present:

WeatherWool likes both these colors a great deal. The lighter color is what we call Duff. The darker color is a classic Brown and is the “Duff-alternative” for WeatherWool Batch 7.

The REVIEW feature below, which enables anyone to publish a review, was added in March of 2022.  We will hopefully get some Reviews in late 2022 and 2023, when people have had more of a chance to use our Blankets.
