South Shore Chore Coat

For sizing, I'm a size 45" chest and went XXL. I run warm and in the winter like to layer without feeling restricted, and it's a nice classic looking fit.

I own two hoodoraks, and two CPOs, and have tried an AAJ. In the Northeast, this is often more than enough. It's also tied with the hoodorak for ease of movement, and roominess where I like it (chest, arm hole areas).

Even over a wool base layer tee, I feel like I can wear it around the office without much fuss, if I need the pockets over my CPOs.

Highly recommend for a nice spring and fall jacket. If you could only have one, this is probably a tie with the hoodorak for me.

I've been wearing the south shore chore coat for 3 months now. It's an extremely versatile jacket. I've worn it from temperatures ranging from 2°C to 20°C and it performs well. I prefer to wear it in warmer weather with a T shirt. The jacket runs smaller than most other Weatherwool pieces so if you want to layer beneath it, you may need to size up.

I'm a 44" chest and the size large is 47" in pit to pit circumference. It provides a fitted, smart look.

I've mainly worn it to work on warmer days. I find the pockets are very handy for dropping tools into. It's a great work wear jacket and looks terrific in casual settings too.

I have the jacket in walnut colour. Something bizarre that I noticed about this colour is that it has a green tinge when in sunlight. Indoors and in photos though, it appears quite blatantly to be brown with flecks of light grey and silver. Perhaps it's just my eyes that perceives the green in sunlight or maybe there is green in the dye that I'm picking up on. Either way, I really like the colour when paired with true black or charcoal.

The jacket is lightweight for a weatherwool piece. Easy to carry around or pack but the wool is so veratile you can wear it throughout most environments. It's very impressive.

The jacket also has a hanger loop. It's early days but I'm yet to see any puckering from hanging the garment on my coat rack.

I'm glad you can unbutton the cuffs and roll up the sleeves if needed. It really adds versatility to the garment. This is good for cooling off or even if you just want to style the jacket differently.

I see a lot of comments about the sleeves being too long but they fit perfectly for me and you can always get them hemmed to the right length if needed.

Overall, it's a pretty amazing jacket and I'm very happy with it. I really appreciate all of the hard work Weatherwool put into making these garments. From sourcing the correct fibres to the thoughtful design features I can without a doubt say this is a company worth supporting.

If you have temperature regulation issues these clothes can improve your wellbeing - as I have experienced. I have plenty of wool clothing but not all wool is equal and weatherwool is substantially superior to everything else I've worn.

I have many Weatherwool items, Al’s Anorak, Peacoat, Hooded Jacket and now the South Shore Chore Coat. I’m so upset…because of how much I love it and as soon as I tried it on and felt the wool denim I immediately went online to look at other colors. For reference I’m 180lbs and the medium fit perfectly with room to wear a shirt or long sleeve base layer underneath. 100% home run and I want a second one. The indigo has really caught my eye. You might wonder why you see so many 5 star reviews. It’s because it’s actually that good.

So, you buy an item, maybe slightly expensive… You worry if it will fit, if it will be what you were hoping for, if it is what you thought…. Then you get it and it’s all that. Sized exactly as the website said. Comfortable. Looks good. Fits. Makes you feel so good you want to tell everybody because it shows you made the right decision. This is that thing.
I wanted a jacket I could wear in Utah winters. Not for camping, but normal to and from, here and there, work or social, dress or casual. It’s all that. I got it when we were unseasonably warm, 50-60 in January. Perfect. Cozy. Not overweight but doesn’t feel fragile either. Since then, it’s gone down into the 20-30F range. Still good enough I continue to be tempted to stop and stay outside and wait to see if I get cold. My legs get cold, torso feels good. To be fair, I think in the low 20-30s and wind, I’d need some layering, but in this dry Utah winters, it’s great. I still want either the all around or the denim double for long stationary periods outside, but this is my new every day, all around jacket. And my wife loves it because it’s not a canvas work coat.
