NOTE, PLEASE:  Pocket.problem:   Please examine the pockets of your Chore Coat.  If you push your fingers down into the bottom of the pockets, you may find the stitching incomplete or weak.  If so, please LMK and we will handle.  Sorry to have to lead with this!! Ralph@WeatherWool.com

We have a lot of Chore Coats in stock now, ready to ship.   AND, Factory8 is making more.  If the website doesn't accept payment for the Chore Coat you want, you can initiate a pre-order by hitting the NOTIFY button.  We'll get in touch and you can pre-order (place a paid reservation).

The 100% Wool Denim South Shore Chore Coat is based on the classic French Chore Coat. This hardy piece of outerwear has evolved over the past century from a practical uniform worn by blue-collar laborers to an everyday staple for men and women worldwide. This practical and easy-to-throw-on coat is made from 100% WeatherWool Denim, and it seems we are the only ones offering 100% Wool Denim!  Our Denim transcends the gap between formal and casual.  From work to play, formal to forest, WeatherWool Denim is more than capable.

Designed for the shoulder season but cut with a relaxed fit to comfortably accommodate a heavy wool shirt or sweater underneath to push it into cooler temperatures.

Although Denim and the Chore Coat are new for us, they conform to our original philosophy of Hardcore Luxury ... luxurious garments offering hardcore performance.  The Denim is soft and comfortable against bare skin, but handles weather and work.  And it's tough ... check out this orbital sander test!

The South Shore Chore Coat is offered in Charcoal, Indigo and Natural White (Undyed and Unbleached fiber).

Cody, in the hat, is 5'11" and 165 pounds (180 cm and 75 kg).  JR, in the headscarf, is 6'0" and 165 pounds (183 cm and 75 kg).  Both are wearing Medium.

The South Shore Chore Coat, named for the South Shore of New York's Long Island, where it was developed by Advisor JR Morrissey, is our first offering in our new, 100% Wool Denim Fabric.  JR, in his production shop, wears a Natural White Chore Coat in a photo at left.  Remarkable coincidence ... a guy from Sweden who already has Charcoal and Indigo Chore Coats, asked, via Instagram comment, for a photo of Nat White.  I happened to be online when he posted, so I replied immediately that I'd work on it.  Returning to my email, I was happy to see Anya, JR's assistant, had just sent the needed photo!  THANKS ANYA and JR!!!  Keep on truckin!!!!!!

Please click here for a video on the Chore Coat.  The video, about 10 minutes long, was made by, and features, Advisor Cody Bokshowan

There is plenty of background information on the Denim Page, but basically only half of the yarn in denim is typically dyed, and the denim weave creates a fabric with the contrasting face and back that has come to be strongly associated with denim.  Our Natural White Denim is completely undyed, so the face and back are very similar.

The latest information about our production is here.

      Our Fabric

Our 100% American, 100% Wool Fabrics, made from 100% WeatherWool Certified Fine Wool, are the foundation of our company. Making our own Fabric is time-consuming, difficult and expensive. But for us, there is no other way.

      Denim WeatherWool

Denim is a high abrasion—and tear-resistant weave, making it a staple in workwear. Instead of using cotton, we produce our Denim from 100% WeatherWool-certified Wool. You'll find our Denim to be much softer and cozier than traditional cotton denim.

      FAQ

      Where is it made?

All of our products are 100% made in the USA using 100% American-made wool and materials. We pay American citizens to make all of our garments. See more.

      Is WeatherWool in retail stores?

No, it is only available directly through this Website.

What are your garments designed for?

We set out to make the best All-Purpose outerwear possible and we take that "ALL" part seriously. While some items may be better then others for specific needs we like to think we have the perfect garment for anything you do outside regardless if it is in the serving in military, hunting, camping, city, country, work or worship.

      Why is it so expensive?

We never cut a single corner at any step. We make our own fabric, from the best wool in the USA. There are over 45 steps in making our fabric alone. We use the highest quality materials made in the USA. We have owner operated customer service on call to serve you and offer free shipping in USA and Canada as well as hassle free returns.

      Is WeatherWool Merino Wool?

Not exactly. Merino is great wool and has been very well marketed over the years but pure merino alone is not actually suitable for us.

We select our wool based on a number of characteristics including micron, strength, length, and comfort factor. With the help of our advisor Bob Padula we have determined the perfect recipe for our goals. Thanks to modern equipment we can test all the wool before we buy it and that wool is primarily coming from Rambouillet and Targhee breeds.

      How do you clean WeatherWool

Short answer, you almost never need to. It's self cleaning. We've had garments we've worn for 7 years that have never been cleaned other then some rain.

However, things happen. If a lukewarm bath and dry flat doesn't do the trick, you can try wool-cleaner. Our full cleaning page is here.

Can bugs bite through your fabric?

We have not heard of any that can.

What is your customer service policy?

Our customers will be taken care of.

Full Customer Service policy can be found here.

      About us

      Founders / Owners

WeatherWool was founded in 2009 by Ralph and Debby DiMeo. Together with their children and a few friends they maintain 100% ownership of the company. Their full story can be read here.

      Direct Connection To The Source

We make our own Fabric, starting with raw wool carefully and specifically selected from a small group of ranches in the USA that meet our certification standards. This isn't no stock photo. We're actually out there during shearing sampling wool and sharing stoies and good times with the ranchers and their families.

The Best We Can Figure Out

While most companies decide a price point, and reverse engineer a garment to meet that retail price, WeatherWool does the opposite. We make the best garment we can figure out how to make at every decision we face.Although our garments seem pricey to some our profit margins are below average and you're getting more value for your money and assurance that you're getting some of the best wool in the world.

Casual, Rugged and Versatile with Class. Peerless customer service.

I've several WeatherWool garments, and if you're reading this I assume you know the pros of wool. The "Shore-Chore" is comfortable and functional, indoors and out. I'm 5'8", 185 lbs., 38" waist. I found the size Large a little snug in the arms reaching for a steering wheel, sized up to an XL, and its perfect for layering and general use. Quality, material, seams, finish, and packaging all exceptional. I'm not a hunter or survivalist -- the most I'm usually outdoors is a 45 minute walk around the neighborhood each day, and with a hat, gloves, and medium weight sweater it's good down to 35 degrees or so. If I'm going to be sitting still watching a football game in drizzling rain, it's time for one of my heavier coats or the Anorak. SERVICE -- when I needed to exchange and size up, I called the number, Ralph picked up, minutes later a return label was in my inbox, a replacement was at my door days later. Ralph treats customers with courtesy, honesty, and respect. "Satisfaction, quickly" would describe the ethos. Is it worth the money and the wait? For me, absolutely. I own a number of inherited vintage coats from a certain company that once advertised "Might as well have the best". I agree. That's why I buy WeatherWool.

      Sharp looking coat

This is a perfect coat for cool weather here in South Carolina, as I tend to stay comfortable as the day warms from mid 40s to low 70s. I received it a couple weeks ago and it has been my daily coat since then. Everything is top notch in the details of construction. The wool is so soft it feels to good to be true. I have a collection of shirts from a well known, mass-produced wool clothing company that I used to think were the pinnacle of how soft wool could be. There is absolutely NO comparison to Weatherwool fabric. Did I mention how good the coat looks? My wife tells me I look 20% smarter wearing it (ha!).

So impressed with this coat. Exceptional quality, super soft wool, great cut and the hand warmer/dump pockets are genius. The coat looks great on as well. In my opinion, for the quality the price is very reasonable. The video really helped with figuring out the sizing. I’m 5’10”, approx 80kg and medium was spot on.
Bought it mainly for the UK autumn and winter weather where I’m based, and haven’t been disappointed so far. Sheds rain really well and keeps me just as warm as the N1 deck jacket it’s replaced (at about half the weight as well).
Customer service was 1st class with shipping to the UK only taking just over 1 week via USPS and Royal Mail. Will NOT be the last item I buy from Weatherwool!

Great Customer Service and a Quality Product!

I had been looking for some Made in the USA wool clothing for the winter here in North Carolina and came across a review of WeatherWool on YouTube and decided to jump on the Chore Coat since it seemed like a great blend of being casual, utilitarian and can be dressed up for the office if needed without being overly bulky. I placed my order and realized I was going on a trip that this coat would be perfect for. I reached out to the WW team and asked if they could prioritize the shipment and boy did they. I received my coat in a couple of business days after sending my email and have been wearing it non-stop since. Ralph and the WW team also reached out after I received my coat to make sure that I got it in time and that I was enjoying my coat. I have been wearing it all day indoors at my desk job and when I leave the house from 40 degree weather to 70 degrees with no problems whatsoever. I even played with my daughter at the playground and didn't break out in a sweat like I normally do with my cotton hoodies. The chore coat is fantastic and I anticipate wearing it until the weather gets into the 30s with just a T-shirt. Thanks Ralph and the rest of the WW team for listening to your clients and making the effort to create a personal relationship with all your clients. Can't wait to get the next product!
