Sir William Gladstone
Sir William Ewart Gladstone
Since about 2005, when I first encountered the simple philosophy quoted below, Gladstone has been an inspiration to me.
I'm 69 now, and my tolerance for aggravation, red tape, petty details and externally imposed requirements, which was never high to begin with, is long gone. Sorry for the salty language, but Gladstone was (sort of!!) an old guy, and at some point you've earned the right .......
William Ewart Gladstone (1809–1898)
"There's so much sh*t to do.
But really, why bother with any of it? You're going to die eventually.
Then you're going to wonder why you bothered with all that sh*t."
This translates to WeatherWool as follows ... We do our best to run "a first-class business in a first-class way", to quote JP Morgan. (I worked 11 years at the original, institutional Morgan Stanley.) The best products and the best Customer Service we can figure out. If you are not happy, please accept a full refund, and good luck to you.
Gladstone was the 4-time Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and consistently ranked by historians as one of the greatest.
Gladstone described the 100-year old US Constitution as “the most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man.”
THANKS to Bob, my Friend since 1971, for bringing Gladstone and his philosophy to my attention. And THANKS to Gil, also my Friend since '71, for telling Bob about Gladstone, even though I'd already been crediting Bob for 15 years.
