Joe Schindel, Wildlands Firefighter and Videographer

OUTDOOR PROFESSIONAL -- FIREFIGHTER, CINEMATOGRAPHER, PHOTOGRAPHER

Idaho and Nationwide

Please contact Joe via email: JoeSchindel9@gmail.com

Specialties: All facets of Wildland Fire, Strategic/Crisis Communications Management, Photography, Videography, Hunting (archery, black-powder, rifle), Fly-fishing (anadromous species; single and double handed rods).

Joe is an Idaho native.  He is a meticulous perfectionist.  He ties his own flies and fletches his own arrows; consistency and high performance comprise his methodology.  He understands quality and maintains a high level of expectation in all he does. His credo embodies uncompromising integrity.

For more than a decade he has operated in some the most rugged terrain and arduous conditions throughout the nation, battling wildland fires.  The environment he operates in is one of the most dynamic and unforgiving; there are very real and permanent consequences for actions or inaction.  He is required to be self-sufficient for several days, his gear is meticulously chosen and must be bombproof.

He currently works for a Federal land management agency as a public affairs specialist.  He is adept at strategic/crisis communications and all aspects of videography.  He spends much of his time capturing still and video imagery of high-profile projects and incidents including flood and wildfire.

In late fall you’ll find him scouring rugged slopes within the legendary Sawtooth Mountain range in search of mature mule deer bucks and bull elk.  The terrain and environmental conditions faced are harsh, and require deliberate gear that is proven and time tested.

Joe’s upmost priority is his family.  As his family expands, every purchase made is intentional.  "WeatherWool is an investment that will last for many years.  It is incredibly versatile, I am as likely to be wearing it downtown on a Saturday morning, enjoying breakfast with my family, as everywhere else I traverse."

“As an outdoor professional, I have access to a vast expanse of gear at discounted rates. I own and have tested many wool garments.  I choose to purchase and wear WeatherWool, because it is the best; there is no comparison in quality, comfort or versatility.”
