Zachary Gault is the founder and Head Instructor at Primitive Living, an educational establishment that specializes in the art of Wilderness-Living Skills and Survival. Primitive Living operates out of Northern Ontario, Canada.

Zach was raised in Caledon, Ontario, with an innate passion for the outdoors. At a very early age, he began honing his skills in the art of Bushcraft and sustainable wilderness living - Endless hours of dirt time gave him the capability and tenacity to immerse himself in uncomfortable situations with the belief that going through such ordeals would not only better his skillset in the wilderness, but with navigating the stresses of a modern world. As a young adult, Zach started to indulge in long term, solo wilderness living in Northern Ontario’s Boreal Forest. While living off the land, Zach has worked diligently to create and construct a deeper understanding of primitive skills such as shelter building, friction fire and the hunting & foraging of wild foods. He has built many different types of shelters and lived in them for prolonged periods of time and sustained himself solely from the land. Zach has started passing on his knowledge of nature and the outdoors with formal teaching of these tribal skills. He feels there is a strong connection to the earth when you strip away the comforts & ease of the modern world and learn to create them yourself in the wild. It has become a way of life for him.

Zach made the atlatl and darts shown in the accompanying pictures.

Zach has also had a few ventures in television and has appeared on such channels as Family Channel, HISTORY and CBC.

Zach on WeatherWool:
"Once I had WeatherWool in hand, it was clear that all other wool products that I own would not be looked at the same. The immediate warmth and regulation of heat without sweating was the first noticeable factor, all while sheltering you from the elements and still retaining warmth while wet, key factors in a garment that you will be living out of, in a wilderness environment. Another bonus of WeatherWool is having the ability to wear wool without the need for a long sleeve shirt or any shirt for that matter, as WeatherWool is unbelievably comfortable and unlike other wool garments, it isn’t scratchy or itchy on your skin. Which means you can avoid layers come spring and wear it right next your skin. I have been using the All Around Jacket with great results and look to expand to more articles of WeatherWool, as it is a company and product I can depend and rely on."
